Muir Woods from San Francisco
Jen, a marketing director from Toronto, reached out to us to plan a Private San Francisco Tour before her upcoming DreamForce conference, one of the largest tech gatherings in California. Her job was to entertain several VIP clients for the week, but she wanted a memorable hiking day in San Francisco’s nature before then.
Asking specifically for a Private Muir Woods Tour, she wished to explore California’s giant redwoods, then casually stroll along the Pacific coastline, taking in both the famous and less explored sides of the city.
Morning Agenda
After a brief phone call and confirmation, we arranged to pick Jen up from her luxury hotel near the Ferry Building, The One Hotel, to begin her nature-focused private tour. This was not her first visit to San Francisco—she attended a similar conference several years ago—but it was her first time in several years, so we refreshed her on San Francisco’s unique history, showed her a few sights near the Golden Gate Bridge, then ventured across the bay to begin our Muir Woods hike.
Muir Woods in Private
On our way to the protected redwood groves, making our way through the hilly Marin headlands—tectonic plates and cliffs rising over 2,500 feet out of the Pacific—Jen mentioned that she enjoyed her private tour already, happy to sit back in our luxury Mercedes GLS with heated seats, riding in style in the misty morning fog.
For her, today was about reconnecting with nature and learning about the history, while peacefully taking in the famous hikes and sights of California, leaving her email and phone calls behind for a few hours.
No Signal In Nature
Jen wanted to soak in every part of her hike—counting the rings of a redwood tree to discover its true age, wandering beneath the cool, fragrant canopy and, most importantly, taking in the wonder of the towering redwoods without the pressure of a set distance or time frame.
After burning some calories on the trail, we then made our way to Sausalito for lunch, where Jen tried a bowl of clam chowder to see if San Francisco’s seafood truly lived up to the hype, as she viewed infamous Alcatraz Island in the distance.
Afternoon Agenda
After lunch, we headed to another part of San Francisco for hiking, this time to Land’s End and the infamous Sutro Baths Ruins, a once-famous bath house for San Francisco residents that has since burned down (in 1969) and now offers coastal hiking trails.
After we showed her a few excellent photography spots, Jen chose to venture on a short hike to the Labyrinth, a unique San Francisco landmark built on occasion (and sometimes destroyed on occasion), with great views of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance with a rocky coastline below.
Saying Farewell
To finish off Jen’s Private Muir Woods Tour, we then meandered along Ocean Beach and Golden Gate Park, showing points of interest, such as the Painted Ladies and Twin Peaks, as we took the scenic route home, answering any last-minute questions she had.
Upon arriving at her hotel, Jen thanked us for the insight and hospitality, happy she was able to explore San Francisco deeper than only the main landmarks. She was now ready to host her VIP clients for the week, feeling balanced and refreshed.
